Annotations Nº 2: Post-Wedding Blues, Mugs, & Earrings
Plus beans, dopamine, design parenting, and more.
Welcome to the second volume of the Microcosm! I was supposed to send this out yesterday morning, but my wedding took over my life, as weddings do. The exhaustion is very real, and I am functioning well below 100% this Monday. I hope a few more restful nights and morning workouts will help me get back in the swing of things, but I feel it today.
Post-wedding blues aside, I am feeling so loved and grateful for this wonderful community we have, and I am elated to finally be married to my very best friend.
Our wedding was perfect. I think everyone says this, but I felt like all the stress, time, and effort we put into the day paid off tenfold, and everything we worried about ended up coming together seamlessly with the support of our wonderful friends and family. I was shocked to learn that ours was the first wedding reception ever to be held at Bar Chelou, which I find so hard to believe, considering it is the most gorgeous and romantic restaurant. The staff was kind and helpful throughout the planning process and evening of, and the food was absolutely stunning. It’s one of our favorite restaurants ever, and I’m so pleased we could celebrate there with our friends and family in a place so special to us.
I loved Katie Stone’s post about how to feel good again.
In full transparency, with the wedding, school, and job search, I have found myself in several depressive slumps over the past few weeks. My time at the gym and mental health dwindled as my plate grew fuller, and I can't help but chuckle at the fact that I am working towards a career as a psychotherapist and my mental health has been in the dumps. I needed to take some of my own advice, but I took Katie's instead.
*She also has a new post rounding up all the viral lip balms which was quite a fun read. I was tricked into trying the Ole Henrikson lip balm last year (I do like it, but it’s so sticky—and for what?) so I’ve been interested in exploring more options. I’m keen to try Doré’s Le Baume (currently on sale for $9.50 at Credo) per Katie’s recommendation.
The Long Kait Earrings I wore at my wedding.
I’ve been a fan of AGMES for years and worked for them for several years before starting my graduate program.
