Two of Swords by Summer Wagner

Welcome to the first episode of Both/And, a project exploring the fertile space between seeming opposites: logic and intuition, science and mysticism, structure and surrender. Hosted by Kaitlynn Lucas, psychotherapist-in-training, writer, and intuitive, Both/And is a space for asking better questions, holding paradox, and coming home to yourself.

What is it?

A sort of field guide for the paradoxically alive. Through personal storytelling, archetypal inquiry, nervous system literacy, tarot, and conversations, Both/And aims to get to the root of what it means to navigate transition, shed old narratives, and learn to trust the knowing beneath it all. It's not therapy, and it's not self-help, it's something more relational — more mythic, and deeply human.

Who is this for?

Those who feel too much, who have shape-shifted too long, who have people-pleased and compromised, who are learning to tolerate discomfort and be seen. It’s for the seekers, the skeptics, the late bloomers. For those of us ready to stop choosing either/or, and begin living inside the exquisite tension of both/and.

Episode 1: Standing at the Threshold

In this opening episode, I explore the deeper meaning of the Two of Swords, parsing its symbolism and relating it to the minor arcana of our lives. I share how it’s resurfaced in my life over the last several months, and discuss what it means to live in the tension between two opposing paths.

I also talk about:

  • The emotional cycle of letting go: relief, buoyancy, and the return of fear.

  • The illusion of "either/or" thinking and how to soften into both/and.

  • What tarot has taught me about identity, trust, and timing.

  • Why this episode sat unreleased for nearly six months, and what changed.

  • The raw vulnerability of being seen, and how to do it anyway.

If you’ve ever stood at a crossroads, frozen in place, unsure of what to release and what to reach for, this one’s for you.
