Gosh loved every word of this. La chimera has similarly haunted me since I saw it last year. The archaeologist and films-with-ambiguous-sad-endings-connoisseur in me was moved in both a visceral and delicate way (that suspension, as you articulate!). Would highly, highly recommend Rohrwacher's other films as well if you haven't already watched
