Dinkin’s paintings exist in a world of their own—lush, tactile gardens, pool scenes, and tableaus that dissolve into the ether. They feel simultaneously contemporary and timeless, evoking Cassatt and Seurat while nodding to the bold compositions of contemporaries like Hilary Pecis.

Courtney Love, Paul Rudd, Dave Chapelle, Christina Ricci, and more collide in this overlooked New Year’s Eve ensemble piece. It’s charming in its messiness, a time capsule for fans of Party Girl or Reality Bites. It doesn’t try too hard, and that’s its brilliance.
The news of David Lynch’s passing was devastating, and I know many others feel equally gutted by the loss. This note from Lynch urging his parents not to watch his film Eraserhead made me giggle. I found it so endearing.
